Imipenem 500mg + Cilastatin 500mg Injection
Imipenem + cilastatin is prescribed to treat serious infections of the lung, heart, bladder, skin, kidney, bone, joint, blood, stomach, and female genital organs. Imipenem + cilastatin can also be prescribed in the treatment of patients with reduced white blood cells who are experiencing a fever, which is believed to be caused by a bacterial infection. Bacterial infections occur because of the growth of dangerous bacteria within or on the body. Cilastatin + imipenem is not effective against infections caused by the virus, such as cold and flu. Cilastatin + imipenem is a drug combination consisting of the following two drugs: Cilastatin (dehydropeptidase inhibitor) and Imipenem (antibacterial). Cilastatin inhibits the action of the dehydropeptidase enzyme, which leads to the destruction of Imipenem, hence preventing Imipenem from inactivating quickly. Imipenem stops the development of the protective sheath of the bacteria, which is required for the survival of the bacteria. Combined, Cilastatin + imipenem cures bacterial infections.
Benefits:
- Cilastatin + imipenem is administered to treat serious lung, heart, bladder, skin, kidney, bone, joint, blood, stomach, and female reproductive organ bacterial infections.
- Cilastatin + imipenem can also be utilized in the treatment of white blood cell count-low patients suffering from a fever suspected to be caused by bacterial infection.
- Cilastatin inhibits the dehydropeptidase enzyme, and this leads to the inactivation of Imipenem, thus aiding Imipenem to remain active for a longer period of time.
- Imipenem is an antibiotic that has a broad spectrum of action against most aerobic and anaerobic bacteria.
