Hydrocortisone Injection
Hydrocortisone is prescribed as a substitute for cortisol (a natural hormone) when your body does not produce enough cortisol (e.g., Addison’s disease). It is prescribed as a replacement therapy for congenital adrenal hyperplasia in children. In addition, it is used after surgery and during severe illness or trauma in children with established adrenal insufficiency or suspected adrenocortical reserve. It is also employed to alleviate many diseases characterized by inflammation (swelling, redness, heat, and tenderness) in the body, including serious allergies, asthma, some types of arthritis, blood, skin, kidney, eye, thyroid, and intestinal diseases, and some cancers.
Hydrocortisone includes ‘Hydrocortisone’, a corticosteroid as replacement therapy for the natural steroid hormone cortisol. Also, it inhibits the release of some chemical messengers in the body that lead to redness, itching, and swelling.
